Journal of Techniques

Description

The Journal of Techniques (formerly known as Al-Takani) is a scientific and open-access journal that deals with state-of-the-art research in engineering. It is published by the Middle Technical University, Baghdad, Iraq.

The journal was founded in 1989 and was publishing in printed-form (paper) until 2019 when the journal moved to online publishing under the under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY) license. The journal follows quarterly publishing schedule with special issues published in-between and it has no publication fee.

The journal uses Turnitin to prevent plagiarism and to ensure the originality of the submitted manuscripts. A double-blind peer-reviewing system is used to assure the publications quality.

Milestones:

  • The journal was founded in 1989 as a "multi-disciplinary" journal.
  • It became electronic in 2019 under ISSN: 2708-8383
  • DOI and DOAJ were obtained in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
  • The journal switched from being multi-disciplinary to an engineering-only journal in March 2024.

Notes:

1- Prior to March-31-2024, the journal was interdisciplinary, and was focused on engineering, management, medical techniques, Sciences, and applied arts and their related sub-fields.

2- Starting March-31-2024, the journal is no longer interdisciplinary as it is focused on the engineering specialization only.

The other specializations emerged into their own journals (under the same publisher, middle technical university).

3- All the publications from 1989 till 2004 were lost due to the war.

4- All the publications from 2005 till 2018 are available via the Iraqi national archive service: Archive from 2005 till now

5- All the publications from 2019 upwards are published on the current website and managed via our Journal Management System.

 

The journal publishes four regular issues on a quarterly basis (March-31, June-30, September-30, and December-31). In addition, the journal also publishes special issues.

The journal is open-access and has NO publication fees.

The journal aims to publish original and high-quality research papers in the following fields of Engineering as follows:

 Engineering. The journal seeks experimental and practical work that can overcome the limitations and drawbacks of gaps in the latest research in different fields of engineering. Moreover, the journal will publish works regarding simulation results and practical case studies. The topics considered include, but are not limited to, the following fields:

  • Engineering (miscellaneous): includes Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Civil and Structural Engineering, Surveying and Geomatics Engineering, and Architecture Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering: includes Applied Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Welding Engineering, Thermal Engineering, and Renewable Energy.
  • Chemical Engineering (miscellaneous): includes Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Water-treatment Engineering, and Environmental Engineering.
  • Material Science (miscellaneous): includes Materials Engineering, Nanotechnology, Nanomaterials Science, and Metallurgy.
