Overview

The Journal of Techniques recognizes the growing role of AI tools in academic writing. This policy provides guidance on responsible AI use while maintaining our commitment to scientific integrity and transparency.

For Authors

Writing Assistance

  • AI tools may be used solely to improve language and readability
  • Authors must review all AI-generated content and remain fully responsible for accuracy
  • AI use must be disclosed in a statement before references
  • AI cannot be listed as author or co-author
  • This policy does not restrict AI use for data analysis in research methodologies
  • The AI generated content should not be greater than 25%.

Images and Figures

  • AI tools may not create or alter submitted images or figures
  • Exception: When AI imaging is part of research methodology, which must be fully documented
  • Standard adjustments (brightness, contrast) are permitted if they preserve all original information
  • AI-generated graphical abstracts are not accepted

For Reviewers

  • Manuscripts and review reports must not be uploaded to AI tools
  • Peer review requires human judgment and cannot be delegated to AI
  • Reviewers are responsible for their assessment and recommendations

For Editors

  • Manuscripts and decision letters must not be processed using external AI tools
  • Editorial decisions require human judgment and cannot be delegated to AI
  • Editors should report suspected policy violations
